Rappenwise Swiss Budget Planner

A monthly budget in CHF as a spreadsheet file (.xlsx), with the usual Swiss fixed costs already set up as categories. You fill in your own amounts.

Not on sale yet

The planner is built and tested; the Etsy listing is being set up. A link to it will appear here once it is live. We sell this template; it is our own product.

What is inside the workbook?

One .xlsx file. On 9 October 2026 we opened it by hand in Apple Numbers and imported it into Google Sheets. It has not been checked in Microsoft Excel yet.

  • Start sheet: five steps to set it up and a colour legend (blue cells you type in, grey cells hold formulas).
  • Settings: start month, net income lines (salary, 13th salary spread across the year or paid in its month, side income) and categories you can rename.
  • 12 monthly sheets: planned against actual, the difference, your savings rate and a status in words, such as On track.
  • Year overview: totals per category and month, savings per month and two charts.
  • Savings goals: up to five goals with a target, a deadline and the monthly amount needed.

What do the sheets look like?

Screenshots of the workbook opened in Apple Numbers, filled with sample figures, not real household data. The Year sheet follows once it has been retaken.

Which Swiss costs are already listed?

These fixed-cost categories come pre-filled. The amounts are left blank because they depend on you.

  • Rent and Nebenkosten (service charges)
  • Health insurance premium, plus a reserve for your franchise (deductible) and co-pay
  • Serafe (household media fee)
  • Tax set-aside
  • Public transport (GA or Half Fare)
  • Pillar 3a
  • Household and liability insurance
  • Phone and internet, subscriptions

Variable categories: groceries, eating out, leisure, clothing, health, gifts, travel and other.

What do the helpers calculate?

  • Tax set-aside per month: you enter your expected annual tax and it shows the monthly amount.
  • Franchise reserve: your franchise plus the co-pay up to its annual cap, divided by 12.
  • Serafe monthly share: the annual fee spread over the year.

Each helper shows the official source link and the year its figure applies to. Figures are checked again before the planner goes on sale.

How was it made?

The planner is designed and built with the help of Claude, an AI assistant. Every formula is tested with known cases (197 automated checks), and the file was opened and checked in Apple Numbers and Google Sheets.

General information only, not financial, tax or legal advice. The planner helps you organise your own numbers; it does not tell you what to buy or which insurer to choose.
